I love France and have been fortunate enough to shoot a lot of weddings here, in a lot of different venues, and have fallen particularly in love with a handful that I’d love to show you here. In no particular order, here’s a few of my favourite venues.
Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is a gorgeous venue in the village of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, in the South of France. The gardens, the view, the colours, the history….well it’s all just gorgeous. Add a couple in love, their friends and family, some beautiful flowers, a nice band and you have the perfect wedding.
Le Château Diter is another fabulous venue, set beautifully amongst the hills just outside the perfume capital of Grasse. The whole region of Alpes-Maritimes is stunning and the French countryside views are spectacular. A romantic venue with pretty much everything you could ask for to host the most magnificent wedding.
Cap Estel is located in one of my absolute favourite French regions; the Côte d’Azur. This luxury venue is located on it’s own mini peninsula overlooking the sea in the commune of Èze, not far from Nice. This personal and private hotel is only available for exclusive hire – which means you have the whole place to yourself. It is a truly perfect place for a wedding.
Château de la Napoule has such a historic feel to it as well as great diversity for a wedding. There’s gardens, courtyards, balconies and medieval rooms. It has a charm and a certain mood that I love, located right by the water overlooking the ocean. Originally built in the 14th Century, however it’s last rebuild was in the early 1900’s. Dressed up for a wedding it looks absolutely beautiful and very romantic.
A couple of weeks back I had the great pleasure to photograph Umida & Mohamed’s wedding in Tunis, Tunisia. Having been to Africa before, but never to Tunis I was very excited to come with them to capture all the fun and beauty of their wedding day.
I first met with Umida at a cafe in London and instantly fell in love with her soft, beautiful and compassionate nature. Her radiant persona continued to shine through that whole weekend I spent with her and Mohamed in Tunis and I came back with some amazing images, of one amazing couple.
Umida got ready at the beautiful Residence, one of Tunisia’s finest hotels. One amazing hotel full of character and North African charm. As I was photographing in paradise I decided to take some of the details outside and photographed the dress, shoes and rings in the hotel gardens. Both Umida and Mohamed was getting ready here which meant I could pop between their rooms and get some getting ready pictures of both of them. Once ready we headed of to the ceremony in one amazing limo! I’ve traveled in many, many wedding cars but this one wins the cool factor for sure!
Anyway, the ceremony took place and the sun was setting. I was keen to get some pictures in this amazing glowing light before it went and was so happy to arrive at the ancient ruins of Carthage just as the sun was setting. Perfect timing! Once we’d climbed inside (thank you U + M for making the trek) we wondered the grounds for some relaxed and beautiful images before making our way to the guests and the wedding reception.
The rest of the night Umida & Mohamed enjoyed the amazing Tunisian cuisine and danced away with friends and family from near and far till the early hours of Sunday morning.
U + M. Where do I start? Thank you so much for bringing me with you to Tunisia and for looking after me so incredibly well. I so appreciate all the amazing food, the outstanding hotel and my perfect place on the airplane! I was so touched by Tunisia and it’s incredible people, places and food. Seeing the two of you together throughout the weekend was incredible and so touching. I feel so very happy to have been there to photograph the moments of love and laughter that was all around for the duration of my stay. I’d like to wish you all the best for the future and I can’t wait to see you guys again soon.
Here’s a rather big taster of images. Lot’s of love. A
Last week I photographed Kerry & Ross’ amazing wedding at Babington House in Somerset and it was the most wonderful day.
Babington House is a gorgeous venue south of Bath located in the English countryside. It’s great for photography both inside out, with it’s lovely grounds & surroundings and it’s light, trendy interior. In addition the staff here is extremely professional, helpful and friendly. Oh, and the food is outstanding! To top it the most beautiful little picturesque chapel is only meters away from the main house and one of my absolute favorite places to hold a wedding ceremony.
Having never met Kerry or Ross before (they live on Jersey) I was excited and nervous on the morning of the wedding. As I walked in to the bridal suite I was met by the most warm energy and smiles all around. Kerry instantly took my breath away with her gorgeous looks and true inner beauty. I didn’t have to spend more than a few minutes with her to realize I’d found gold. I spent the first hour or so photographing details and general preparations before heading over to the other building to get some informal pictures of Ross and his best men getting ready and having a laugh. Soon thereafter Kerry and Ross got married and celebrations with friends and family was in full swing.
During the Champagne reception we sneaked of for 20 minutes or so to take some relaxed pictures of Kerry & Ross on their own walking the grounds, having a few cuddles and a bit of fun. It’s amazing how a little countryside path or an old fence, or even a hammock, can look so good when you have one newly wed, in-love, gorgeous couple in front of the camera!
K + R. I felt so welcome right from the very first moment I set foot at Babington and met the two of you. Your warm ways and happy smiles are contagious and you’re such a pleasure to be around. I was moved again and again throughout the day by your love, laughter and kind ways. The love you have for each other is evident and fills each room you pass. You are amazing together! Thank you so much for having me and for treating me to photograph your special day. And have I mentioned the food was great! Thank you.
Here’s a little selection of images from the day.
Lot’s of love to all and remember to take some extra time to enjoy each other and life! A
There is no hiding the fact that my last day in Cannes had perfect Riviera weather. The sun was shining and the sky was blue for Marjorie & Guillaume’s barbeque. Guests were invited back to the villa where it all started 2 days ago, for a relaxed chill out by the pool with food and drinks.
We ended our three days adventure with some pictures by the ocean in true Cote D’Azur style, mixing the warm orange feel from the cliffs with blues and aquas in the sky and water.
As I am finishing of my French Easter adventure with this post, I’d like to say an additional big thank you for having me. I am as ever so grateful and truly enjoyed my stay. I came back with new energy, ideas & inspiration….and high hopes to come back soon and shoot more!
Here’s some pictures from day 3. They were all shot in early afternoon in strong sun light which, even-though it can be strong and harsh for pictures, was welcomed with smiles and laughter. Lot’s of love as always. Anna
