Cap Estel Mariage

I recently spent 3 days shooting a wedding at the beautiful Cap Estel in Èze, situated between Nice and Monaco, in the south of France. A lot can be said for the beauty of the venue & it’s location, I could go on and on about the blue sea and the clear skies. Tell you again and again about the sunsets, of how the world changes with the hours of the day. I could describe the sound of the water washing up on the shore over and over again, and recite the sound of the wind as it touches earth.

But what I really want to tell you involves two people in love and the energy they brought to this day and this place in time.

There’s nothing quite like it when you arrive for preparations to find the beginning of what already feels like the perfect story. You’re on chapter one and you know this is a book you’re not going to be able to put down. And to no surprise the following chapters of the day unfolded in a best seller for sure; filled with excitement, beauty, spontaneity, fun, laughter, passion and love. In short, a story of two people in love, who couldn’t keep their eyes of each other all day, who seemed to be one rather than two. It’s also a story about family, who cares and shares in their love with their laughter and their admiration. A story that talks of friendships with no limits, beyond borders, who rejoice in the happiness of forever after.

N + V, you are beautiful. I could say it a million times, because you truly are. You know the beauty that shines, the one that glows in the dark and smells like roses. That one. I am so happy to have been a part of your special celebration and to have been the one to capture your story with my images. Thank you. So much.

Also a big thank you to my second shooter, Ingrid Simons, who’s always up for an adventure and who supports me always in my work and who worked so well to help create some of the images in this post. Thank you lovely. You’re amazing!

All my love, always. A

Wedding in France

Beautiful South of France Venues

I love France and have been fortunate enough to shoot a lot of weddings here, in a lot of different venues, and have fallen particularly in love with a handful that I’d love to show you here. In no particular order, here’s a few of my favourite venues.

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is a gorgeous venue in the village of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, in the South of France. The gardens, the view, the colours, the history….well it’s all just gorgeous. Add a couple in love, their friends and family, some beautiful flowers, a nice band and you have the perfect wedding.

Le Château Diter is another fabulous venue, set beautifully amongst the hills just outside the perfume capital of Grasse. The whole region of Alpes-Maritimes is stunning and the French countryside views are spectacular. A romantic venue with pretty much everything you could ask for to host the most magnificent wedding.

Cap Estel is located in one of my absolute favourite French regions; the Côte d’Azur. This luxury venue is located on it’s own mini peninsula overlooking the sea in the commune of Èze, not far from Nice. This personal and private hotel is only available for exclusive hire – which means you have the whole place to yourself. It is a truly perfect place for a wedding.

Château de la Napoule has such a historic feel to it as well as great diversity for a wedding. There’s gardens, courtyards, balconies and medieval rooms. It has a charm and a certain mood that I love, located right by the water overlooking the ocean. Originally built in the 14th Century, however it’s last rebuild was in the early 1900’s. Dressed up for a wedding it looks absolutely beautiful and very romantic.

Favourites 2014

I’ve thought a lot about time. Time.
But in order to talk about time and understand time, I need to define time.

Time? Is it movement? Growth? Passing of an event? Is time just maturity? Does it go faster the older you get? Is time the same for everyone? How does my minute compare to your minute? Is a fun hour faster than a boring one?

For me, 2014 came and went. Regardless of how many minutes and hours and days there were, they all went by quicker than I could have ever imagined. It really does feel like 2014 went before it really came. Yet the memories are filled with moments to treasure forever. How is it possible that a whole years almost disappears in what feels like no time at all, how is it possible when it contained so much, when the memories that took place therein takes up space I couldn’t even begin to define.

But I realised something revolutionary, that changed my whole outlook on the concept of time; the very best way to make the most of your time, and to properly enjoy all of it, is to live right here, right now, totally devoted to the present. Appreciating the now, making the most of this moment. It was the key to unlock infinity for me. By being present with my focus on right now, immensing myself truly and totally in right here……..right now is where I am. My focus is here and will remain here. In my forever.

I encourage you all to enjoy your moments. Truly be there, right here…right now.
Here’s some of my lovely moments from 2014. Happy new year to all and everyone with wishes for a fantastic 2015!

Lot’s of love, always and forever, A
