Wedding in Mauritius

Earlier this year I photographed a wedding in Mauritius for the lovely Jhalini & Daniel. A Mauritian-Danish couple living in Glasgow held part of their wedding celebrations in Jhalini’s native Mauritius and I was the lucky one to be there to document it all. It was an amazing experience and something that will be part of me forever. I fell in love with Mauritius off course, but more than that, getting to know Jhalini and Daniel’s families was one of the highlights of my year. Truly.

I’ve shown you a selection of images from two of their other wedding days here and here, but I also wanted you to see another one of their many wedding days, as there is just so much warmth and so much beauty.

I am so grateful to have these memories. And proud to have captured all these moments that are now photographs forever. It’s why I love photography.

Lot’s of love, to all and everyone. A

Mauritius Wedding Photographer – Long Beach Hotel

I get all emotional thinking about the days I spent as a photographer for Jhalini & Daniel’s wedding in Mauritius recently. I feel emotional because it touched me so; to get to know J + D and all their friends & family. It moved me to play a little part of a family so close together, so caring for each other, sympathetic, considerate, compassionate and warm. And yes it was warm in Mauritius too, but the real heat was between Jhalini & Daniel for sure and the warmth I felt came from their family and friends.

It’s almost an impossible task to sum up a wedding of this kind, a wedding of so many days, with so many events, but also with so much flavour and so much love, that touches the spirit on so many levels. But I’m a photographer and I’m in love with images. With pictures the memories and events and experience and emotions and moments fall back into place. You see different things at different times. Little details emerge into stories. Places comes back to life. People feel real again and the memories of what was, well it somehow still is. Images tell stories, but maybe we see different things, so it tells our stories. Photos brings us back and allows us the privilege to travel from one place to another, just like that. And isn’t that the best, that I can just scroll down, view a few images, and go back for a while, back in time, over seas and past oceans. To this one place, full of so much.

J + D. You’re so lovely. Not just lovely, somehow that doesn’t feel enough; amazing. Together especially. There’s so much to love about you and it’s beautiful to watch how in love you are with each other and how much the people around you love you both. Thank you so much for taking me with you to Mauritius and letting me share in all this love and the laughter and joy that came with it. Thank you also for looking after me so well, for being so compassionate and considerate, for all the fantastic food and for making me feel like I went away but came home at the same time. It means so much to me that I’ve been part of your journey together and now, you will forever be a part of me and my journey.

There’s so much more to be said, but I’ll let the images speak for them selves.

Lot’s of love, and appreciation, A

a Mauritian-Hindi wedding – Sangeet & Tilak

A few portraits from one, of quite a few wedding days, of Jhalini & Daniel’s wedding in Mauritius. These portraits was taken in between the two ceremonies; Sangeet & Tilak that took place in the village of Curepipe. As I have so many images from the Haldi (which took place the day after), as well as from the wedding day and their celebrations at Long Beach hotel, I have chosen to show you a few portraits today. So lot’s more to come, and in the meanwhile here’s a few images of the beautiful and very much in love, J + D.

Lot’s of love. Hope you’re all happy where ever you are 🙂 A

Mauritius Engagement Shoot

Jhalini & Daniel – Mauritius Engagement Shoot

I’ve had such a fantastic week photographing the wedding of Jhalini & Daniel here in Mauritius. Truly fantastic. A week with their family and friends; full of fun! Full of emotions, ceremonies, beautiful landscapes, culture, food(!), colours and much more. But before all of that I’d like to start by showing you a few of my favourites from their engagement shoot.

The day before the wedding it was high time to have a little warm up, and what better than a photo shoot in some of your favourite places? Jhalini grew up on Mauritius and had since her childhood loved all the sugar cane fields that you find all over Mauritius, so what better place to have a shoot than right there in those fields. After some photographs and a lot of fun we proceeded to Flic en Flac for some sunset pictures by the beach, together with some coconut water from J + D’s favourite place.

Lot’s of love, A
