A few weeks back I drove down to Somerset for a wedding which was very special to me. All weddings are special for sure, but because I’ve known the mother & father of the bride for some time, this wedding had a very personal place in my heart.
Long before the wedding even took place, back when I was sitting in a little coffee shop in Leatherhead talking to Natalie & Steve, I knew that this wedding would be an emotional one. Because I knew back then how much I cared and I knew back then how much they cared, for each other.
As prepared as I was, little did I know I would be stood in a corner in the front of the orangery wiping tears of my face as Natalie and her dad walked up the isle. Steve was waiting at the front, excited. Natalie was coming up the isle happy and smiling. And Natalie’s dad next to her, with tears coming down his cheeks. He looked at Steve, then he looked at Natalie as he handed her over, and more tears welled up. In his eyes, mine and most probably the rest of the room.
The rest of the day continued in the same spirit. It was a warm, sunny day. Lot’s of little fairy children running around in the grass with wings on their backs eating cookies and strawberries, laughing and enjoying every moment of the day.
Hestercombe in itself is a beautiful place. It’s landscaped gardens are amazing and ideal for pictures. So when guests were enjoying their afternoon tea we walked the gardens for some relaxed shots of the newly weds. Later that day, after a fantastic meal and some touching speeches, we headed out yet again to capture some more pictures as the sun was setting over the field. It was a truly perfect sunset, almost exclusive, like it was there just for them.
Natalie + Steve. What can I say that I haven’t already. It meant the world to me to be there with you. To share it all with you was such an honour and every second of your day truly touched me. You two are perfect together. You were made for each other. You both have such wonderful families and great friends. Thank you for the lovely food, for the presents and for having me. Lot’s of love.
