It was such a treat to be part of Ania & Rob’s wedding celebrations at the clock barn earlier this month. Such a happy couple filled their wedding day with an abundance of love and laughter and I was so please to be there to shoot it all :)

A + R, thank you so much for having me. It was such a beautiful day and your wedding was a true reflection of what an amazing couple you are. I loved so much about your wedding day, but more than anything I loved to see the two of you together. Enjoy your long skii trip in Canada, and each other off course.

Lot’s of love, A.

Ania’s mamma showed me to the loft where the dress was hanging. Sometimes I move the dress to take a nice picture of it, but it was perfect where it was. Lit by a sky window and hanging perfectly from the roof.

I just love this image of Ania looking at herself in the mirror. Makes you wonder what she’s thinking of.

For the event, Ania’s mamma had put lot’s of pictures up on the walls in Ania’s old bedroom together with loads of cut out snowflakes (wedding theme). I placed the shoes on the wall, next to a picture I just love of A when she’s little, for a little different shoe shot.

Ania looks so beautiful in this image and I love how theshot frames her in the mirror . To me it really tells the story of getting ready.

As the bridesmaid were getting ready I quickly grabbed this shot which works really well and help tell the story of morning preparations.

As I arrived at church I noticed the priest waiting outside for the bride to arrive and quickly grabbed this shot.

One of my favourite pictures of the day. The image shows the bride and her brother just before she’s about to walk into church. The moment they had just before entering was filled with true happiness and excitement and the relationship between Ania an her brother is, to me, truly reflected here.

As Ania walked up the isle I was watching Rob waiting at the front. The closer she got, the more emotional he got. It was beautiful. This image shows his emotions clearly, it also shows Ania reaching out to him as she approaches, but I also love how Rob’s dad (stood right behind him) looks at Ania.

I was hiding behind a pillar in the front of the church and got this very private image in a room filled with people.

The lovely bridesmaids and their beautiful dresses, head pieces and flowers.

What’s a flower girl without her flowers?

I love how her blue eyes matched the dress perfectly. Such a beautiful and perfect little flower girl and Ania’s niece.

A quick couple of shots of the newly married couple just outside church.

The Clock barn, Hampshire.

Ania and Rob’s reception room looked amazing with snowflakes in all shapes and forms. Just perfect for a cold January wedding.

Speeches brings out all kinds of reactions and I love this picture of Ania during her fathers speech.

Yesterday I was on the hunt for an image I took in the beginning of my photographic career. While looking for this one particular image I made a journey back in time. Images that has filled my life, stacked up in boxes in the garage, filled me with memories and emotions of a time that has been.

That’s the thing with images, they tell a story about a place, a person or perhaps an object. But as the author of those images, every one of those images also tell a story about me. A reflection of my journey, of my emotions, of lessons learned and aspirations for the future. Each one a piece of the puzzle. My puzzle.

So today I’d like to show you a couple of those pieces, images taken about 15 or so years ago by a girl with big dreams of a life behind the camera. Happy to report that girl is living her dream.

Excuse the quality, I’ve just scanned them quickly from lovely, fix smelling, fibre based prints.  Lot’s of love. A

Wedding at Pembroke Lodge, Richmond – Fiona & Andrew

I’d never met Fiona and Andrew before the big day, so when I arrived for the bridal preparations in Kingston on the morning of the wedding I was a little nervous and didn’t have a clue what to expect. I quickly realised that one of the sweetest, most welcoming, carrying and happy brides had booked me to photograph her wedding and it only took seconds that morning in Kingston to realise it was going to be a great day – with one incredible couple.

F + A got married in December, just a couple of days before Christmas, and it was an incredibly cold and windy day to get married. Despite of the cold, the landscape in and around Pembroke Lodge was beautiful, with a little bit of snow still left on the ground and a lovely warm, orange filled afternoon sky to match. I suggested to F + A to pop outside for a quick few images and was incredibly pleased that they were brave enough to come for a little walk around the lodge for some pictures in the woods and with the view. It was completely worth it as we got some stunning images just before the light went and Fiona & Andrew was as happy as ever, laughing and having fun. Enjoying their day, and each other.

The rest of the day was enjoyed inside, in the warmth together with friends and family. When I left the party later that evening every one was in fact sweating  and having fun on the dance floor.

F + A. You are amazing. I am still blown away with your warm and gentle ways, with your ability to laugh and enjoy every single moment of your day. It was truly inspiring to see you guys have so much fun together. You are obviously perfect for each other and I wish you all the very best for your future together. Thank you so much for having me join this fun loving day.

Here’s a few images from the wedding. Lot’s of warm winter love. A

Happy New Year to everyone!

So, 2011 has already started and we’ve left 2010 behind us. Or almost. In order to fully enjoy this new fab year ahead I felt I had to go back and evaluate what’s been. I looked at the business plan I made last January to see what I’d accomplished in 2010, what goal’s I’d reached and what lessons I’d learnt. More importantly I looked back on my work, my images.

The images I took during 2010 tells a story of people in love, of new beginnings, happiness and laughter. Of romance and closeness perhaps, family bonds and thoughtful details. They tell other peoples stories, but they also tell mine. A story of where I’ve been, what I’ve seen and who I’ve met. But more so they will portray a piece of me, as part of me is in each one of the images I’ve taken.

2010 has been a super year. I know I say that every year, but it is so. To define super; I’ve grown as a person, I’ve lived and learned. I’ve made new friends and played with old. I’ve traveled to places never seen before and enjoyed others close to my home, and to my heart. I’ve given and received. I’ve learnt from my mistakes and forgotten others’.

So what has 2011 got in store? I actually don’t know exactly. I have some amazing weddings booked, a few trips planned and a couple of major projects in progress. But I do know that I am happy and will continue to enjoy life to the fullest.

I will end this post with a rather big selection of images (displayed in no particular order) that for one reason or another made it in to a folder called: “Favourites”. But remember; ”Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.

Lot’s of love, to all, with hopes that 2011 will be a wonderful year for each and every one of us. A

I was a little bit worried when I woke up in the morning of Natalie & James’s wedding day. It was snowing heavily and much more was forecasted. To be safe I set out ridiculously early, which proved to be a smart move as trains, busses and tubes were delayed and cancelled all over Surrey and London. I managed to get on a very delayed train, a tube half way and walked the last 40 min or so. When I arrived I looked like a snowman, but more importantly: I arrived. On time.

Unfortunately quite a few other people didn’t. The cake couldn’t make it in the snow, nor could the band or the wedding car. Luckily everything worked out fine. A friend with a Land Rover took us all to the registry office (I had a prime position on the floor in the back with the brother of the bride :) and the bride arrived safely and early.

After a lovely ceremony a red double decker took us to the reception venue at the Press house on Bride’s lane where the rest of the evening was enjoyed with family and friends.

N + J. Thank you so much for inviting me to join your wedding day. I am so incredibly glad I was there to share and document your day. You are lovely and it was great to see you enjoy your day despite various cancellations and such. You guys are great and I wish all the very best for your future together.

Here’s a little taster from the wedding. Lot’s of love. A
